Coffee With a Cop Scheduled in Orcutt and Buellton
Orcutt, Buellton - March 1st, 2016
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is holding two “Coffee with a Cop” events next week. The first one will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 6 Degrees Coffee House and Eatery located at 4869 S. Bradley Street in Orcutt. The second one will be held on Wednesday, March 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the newly opened Starbucks located at 235 E. Highway 246 in Buellton. The coffee gatherings are a great way for residents to meet with deputies who work in their neighborhood and to ask questions in a casual atmosphere.
The Sheriff’s Office held its first “Coffee with a Cop” event in the City of Carpinteria in February of 2013 and has been holding these gatherings in different areas of the county ever since. This will be the second “Coffee with a Cop” in Orcutt and the very first one to be held in Buellton.
Lieutenant Brian Olmstead, who oversees the Santa Maria sub-station, said he is hoping for a great turnout. He said, “Participating with ‘Coffee with a Cop’ is important to me because it is another way to unite the community with law enforcement. Orcutt residents have been coming together to promote safety in their community and this offers them another way to meet with deputies face to face and discuss any concerns they have or just to say hello.”
Lieutenant Shawn O’Grady, who oversees Central Stations, says he is pleased to be part of the first “Coffee with a Cop” in the Santa Ynez Valley. He said, “This is another way for us to keep our hands on the pulse of what is happening in our community and what our citizens are concerned about. It is important to be accessible to the community.”
