Sheriff's Narcotics Detectives Arrest Alleged Narcotics Dealer

Narcotics detectives with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Ventura resident following a three month long investigation into methamphetamine sales in the City of Carpinteria. During the course of the investigation, narcotics detectives identified 41-year-old Luis Tinajero as amethamphetamine trafficker.
On January 16, 2016, while conducting surveillance, Sheriff’s detectives located Tinajero at the Carl’s Jr. parking lot located in the 4600 block of Carpinteria Avenue. Detectives conducted an enforcement stop and served a search warrant on the vehicle. Tinajero was found to be in possession of a .25 caliber handgun and cocaine.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s narcotics detectives and a K9 unit responded to Tinajero’s residence in the City of Ventura. They searched the residence and located 1.3 pounds of cocaine and 5.3 pounds of methamphetamine with a combined street value total of $71,500.
Tinajero was arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of possession and transportation of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine for sales, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a controlled substance while being armed.
Tinajero is being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $500,000 bail.
