UPDATED: Detectives Locate Wanted Fugitive

Santa Maria - May 10th, 2016

Since the April 30th incident when Rudy Ramos (28 years) fled the scene of a vehicle crash after fleeing in a vehicle from law enforcement, detectives from the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Bureau and the Compliance Response Team conducted an extensive investigation into Ramos’ whereabouts.

Ramos has an extensive criminal history and is currently on Community Supervision for felony vehicle evading and sales of narcotics. A firearm and ammunition was found in the vehicle Ramos was driving on April 30th and it was believed Ramos was still armed and dangerous.

On May 10th at about 0400 hours, Detectives from the Special Investigation Bureau, our Special Enforcement Team, the Compliance Response Team with the assistance from the Santa Maria Police Department, served a search warrant for Ramos in the 900 block of W. Donovan in the City of Santa Maria. Because Ramos had previously been a felon in possession of a firearm during the vehicle pursuit and his extensive criminal history, the Special Investigation Bureau determined that to ensure the safety of the public and the residents of the location, the Special Enforcement Team was needed to safety serve the search warrant. Ramos was taken into custody without incident.

Additional charges are pending related to the April 30th vehicle pursuit and weapons.

The Compliance Response Team (CRT) is funded by realignment money distributed through the Community Corrections Partnership, a committee of various county law enforcement and judicial representatives.  CRT consists of Sheriff Deputies, Probation Officers and a Lompoc Police Officer.

Public Assistance Requested to Locate Wanted Suspect Who Fled From Authorities

Santa Maria - May 1st, 2016

At approximately 8:45 p.m. last night, April 30, 2016, a Sheriff’s deputy observed a dark colored BMW sedan near Black Road and Highway 1 in an unincorporated area of Santa Maria committing a traffic violation. A traffic enforcement stop was attempted but the vehicle sped off and ran a stop sign. A short pursuit was initiated which led deputies into the Tanglewood housing area. A Santa Barbara County Air Support helicopter was deployed to provide air surveillance of the fleeing vehicle.

The BMW sedan crashed into two parked cars and the two occupants, a male and female, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The male suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Rudy Ramos of Santa Maria, jumped over a fence and the female passenger, 23-year-old Angelina Tejeda of Santa Maria, attempted to climb over but was not able to make it and gave up. Tejeda was taken into custody and found to have two Felony no bail warrants for her arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, Sheriff's deputies located a loaded .410 gauge modified shotgun and several .38 special rounds, drug paraphernalia and luggage belonging to both Tejeda and

Ramos. A perimeter was established and deputies began searching back yards for the suspect.  A reverse 911 was sent to neighbors in the immediate area advising them to shelter in place.  Despite a thorough search of the area, deputies were unable to locate Ramos. An officer safety alert was sent to the surrounding agencies advising Ramos had outstanding warrants for his arrest and may be armed and dangerous.

If you have any information regarding this case or the whereabouts of Ramos, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 805-683-2724. To leave an anonymous tip, call 805-681-4171.  If you see Ramos, do not approach him but notify the Sheriff’s Office right away.
