National Correctional Officers and Employees Week

Santa Barbara - May 8th, 2017

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office would like to take this opportunity during “National Correctional Officers and Employees Week” to say thank you and recognize our hard-working and dedicated Custody Deputies and Custody Staff.   We are grateful for the vital public safety service these men and women provide to our community.  The Sheriff’s Custody Operations is currently made up of approximately 214 custody deputies and approximately 45 hired professional custody staff.

Sheriff Bill Brown said he is honored to recognize our highly trained custody staff.  He said, “The men and women who work in our Custody Branch are extraordinary.  Their jobs and the environment in which they work are challenging, dangerous and demanding.  Nevertheless, they continually exhibit dedication, compassion and professionalism.  I am proud to work with such outstanding people.”

Chief Deputy of Custody Operations Vincent Wasilewski said, “I am excited to join Sheriff Brown and his Executive and Command Staff in recognizing the men and women that work in our Custody Operations. National Correctional Officers and Employees Week gives us all an opportunity to express how proud we are of the work these professionals do on a daily basis. It is through their collective dedication and commitment to service that our community is truly a safer place to live. And for that, I am extremely grateful; not just this week, but every day of the year.”

The Sheriff’s Office has events planned throughout the week to honor our Custody Deputies and Staff.  Every day this week on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, we will recognize a different group.  We hope you will enjoy learning more about them and the amazing work they do.

The Sheriff’s Office is always looking for outstanding people who want to make a difference to join our custody team. If you are interested in a custody career with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, we encourage you to go to our website at www.sbsheriff.org where we have an on-going recruitment for custody deputies.  The Sheriff’s Office is currently hiring staff in preparation for the new Northern Branch Jail opening in spring of 2019.
