Multiple Felons Arrested in Lompoc

Lompoc - May 24th, 2016

On Wednesday, May 25th, 2016, members of the Compliance Response Team (CRT) and detectives from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau were in the City of Lompoc for the purpose of locating multiple wanted felons.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. while investigating a residence in the 900 block of W. Nectarine, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for 33-year-old Stoney Poynter. CRT personnel and detectives served the search warrant and located Poynter hiding in a bedroom closet. Poynter was arrested for a violation of his Community Supervision terms and conditions.

CRT personnel and detectives then went to an address in the 1300 block of W. Olive in an attempt to locate 27-year-old Jake Villareal who was wanted for violating the terms of his Community Supervision. Villareal was observed driving a vehicle near the location. A traffic stop was attempted, however Villareal failed to yield. At one point, Villareal stopped his vehicle in the middle of the roadway and allowed his female passenger to exit the vehicle. Villareal then continued to drive in a reckless manner as he attempted to evade law enforcement. The pursuit lasted about five minutes until Villareal stopped his vehicle and fled on foot. With the assistance from Lompoc Police Officers, Villareal was quickly apprehended in a nearby apartment.  Villareal was arrested for felony evading and a probation warrant.

During this investigation, CRT personnel spotted two additional wanted subjects in the area. 26-year-old Joseph Maldonado was arrested on a parole violation and 36-year-old Brendon Hicks was arrested for violating his Community Supervision.

The Compliance Response Team (CRT) is funded by realignment money distributed through the Community Corrections Partnership, a committee of various county law enforcement and judicial representatives.  CRT consists of Sheriff Deputies, Probation Officers and a Lompoc Police Officer.
