Social Media Assists in Arrest of Residential Burglary Suspect
Orcutt - September 7th, 2016
Over the past two weeks, Sheriff’s deputies from the Santa Maria Sheriff Station have investigated several daytime residential burglaries that occurred in the same vicinity of Orcutt. During the thefts, the suspect entered the homes through unlocked doors and windows and stole jewelry and cash.
On Tuesday, September 6, Sheriff’s deputies learned of a residential burglary that had occurred in the Orcutt area through a social media post. Sheriff’s deputies contacted the victim and through the course of the investigation identified the suspect as being 44-year-old Wendy Snow of Orcutt. Deputies located Snow at her residence.
Snow was determined to be a suspect in six recent area burglaries. Deputies were able to recover some items of stolen property. Snow was booked into the Santa Barbara County jail for residential burglary with bail set at $50,000.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to always secure all the doors and windows of their home prior to leaving and to report suspicious subjects in their neighborhoods to law enforcement as soon as possible.
