Search Warrant Leads to Heroin and Stolen Handgun
Santa Maria - October 7th, 2016
On October 7, 2016 at approximately 7:00 a.m., investigators from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau and the Compliance Response Team served two narcotics related search warrants at a duplex in the 500 block of N. Thornburg in the City of Santa Maria.
Once entering safely into the two residences, investigators detained 13 individuals including one juvenile. During the search of the residences, about 14 grams of heroin with a street value of $1,200 and various narcotic paraphernalia consistent with sales and use were found. Investigators also located more than $28,000 in cash and a loaded stolen .38 caliber handgun.
After the search, one of the residents, 54-year-old Luis Paz, was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for possession of heroin for sale, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm while possessing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale within 1000 feet of an elementary school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
