Pedestrian Fatally Injured by Train in Montecito

The decedent fatally injured on October 14, 2017, by an Amtrak passenger train near Eucalyptus Lane at Miramar Ave has been identified as being 46-year-old Timothy Manning Sanchez of Santa Barbara. 

The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Next of kin have been notified of the decedent’s death.

 

 

Montecito - October 14th, 2017

 

Just after 10:15 am, October 14, 2017, an adult male in his forties was walking on the tracks near Eucalyptus Lane at Miramar Ave. when he was struck and fatally injured by an Amtrak passenger train that was headed northbound.  The train engineer observed the subject on the tracks and activated the horn, whistle and braking system but the subject did not respond and was struck by the train. The collision is under investigation. 

 

The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office in the process of making a next of kin notification and is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.  An official cause and manner of death is pending toxicology and lab results.
