Goleta - December 15th, 2016
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office credits an anonymous tip for the discovery of a Goleta residence where a number of suspects were allegedly using and dealing narcotics. Following an investigation by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives with the Special Investigations Bureau, a total of eight people were arrested on December 13, 2016 and more than $6,000 worth of methamphetamine and heroin were seized.
The investigation began when the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip on December 12, 2016, from a concerned citizen who suspected drug dealing was occurring at a residence in the 200 block of Fir Tree Place in the City of Goleta. Sheriff’s detectives began watching the residence. They observed a couple drive away and commit a traffic violation. The couple was identified as being the homeowners, 34-year-old Erik Stirling and 34-year-old Shelby Stirling. They were both found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of methamphetamine and heroin. The Stirlings were arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. At the jail, it was discovered Shelby Stirling had secreted heroin inside her body. The heroin was recovered and Shelby Stirling was booked on an additional charge of introducing a controlled substance into a jail.
Investigators continued watching the residence and observed two subjects, 35-year-old Ryan Erskin of Goleta and 36-year-old Justin Anderson of Goleta, leaving the same residence. Investigators contacted both subjects and discovered they were both under the influence of a controlled substance. Through further investigation, Erskin was found to be in possession of approximately 7.8 grams of methamphetamine. The two were arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and Erskin was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Both were booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.
Following these arrests, investigators served a search warrant at the Fir Tree Place residence. During the search, investigators contacted multiple subjects inside and located 3.2 ounces of methamphetamine. As a result of the discovery, 42-year-old Gina Boeddeker of Goleta, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.
Three additional subjects were arrested, issued citations and released. 32-year-old Blue Herrick-Major of Santa Barbara was cited on outstanding warrants from Santa Cruz County. 30-year-old Karena Straight of Montecito was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 30-year-old Mitchell Foutz of Santa Barbara was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Due to the additional methamphetamine found at the residence and the other subjects contacted, the Sheriff’s Office is requesting the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office also charge Erik and Shelby Stirling with the violation of opening or maintaining any place for the purpose of selling, giving away, or using any controlled substance.
The Sheriff’s Office wants to take this opportunity to encourage members of the public to provide information when suspicious activity is seen in their neighborhood. To leave an anonymous tip call 805-681-4171 or go to our website at www.sbsheriff.org.
